I absolutely love ice-skating on a cold clear night, under a beautiful star-sprinkled sky, in the pond at the back of our property. There’s nothing more exhilarating, unless of course you trip on a root or rough spot and go down on your back. Then the nightmare begins. When this happened to me last winter, I was sure that I must have broken my back. The doctor insisted on doing multiple tests and x-rays because he said there were various causes of lower back pain. I am glad that he did. What he found was a small crack in my tailbone. I will survive to skate again.
