I thought that after I retired it would be the end of my social life and things would get very boring but I was very wrong.  I joined a garden club in my community and the ladies there were anything but boring.  Every year they plan a week vacation to a very special place that has beautiful gardens and this past one we went to the Kauai Resort in Hawaii.  I was so excited to walk the beautiful botanical gardens there and was amazed at the many amazing sites.  If I knew retirement would be this great, I would’ve done it sooner!

As we do every few months, a group of us were heading off for our regular weekend of dirt biking. This time it was my job to organize the accommodation. I checked out a few of the rotorua motels to see if I could find a suitable one. It was not so much about the rooms, more importantly was whether or not they had a place for us to lock up our bikes. We have done trails around much of the country but we always find the ones near the central north island are always the best fun and offer some of the best scenery.

Our very good friends who we have known for years are celebrating their engagement so as gift to them we decided to shout them a weekend away at the lake. Trying to choose which one of the numerous lake taupo motel to book for them was something I figured was best left to my girlfriend to take care of. It works out really nicely actually as we just happen to live in Taupo so it’s a great excuse to get them down here so we can catch up with them. I guess I should have mentioned to my girlfriend that we do have a price limit for which ever place she decided on.

Most people have a favorite animal, but not many have a favorite animal such as mine. I absolutely adore the spotted hyena or brown Hyena. My first experience with a hyena was at the ‘De Wildt cheetah and wildlife sanctuary’ situated in Magaliesberg, North of Pretoria. With the aid of avis, I was able to share their space and learn fascinating things about these unique creatures. Did you know that their biological family is closely linked to that of the Mongooses and MeerKat family? Although this animal is negatively associated to that of a scavenger, it is a very capable and resourceful hunter and very cunning.

A lot of us will dine out most of the time while on vacation, but once more, this can get pretty expensive. Well, if you rent a travel trailer you don’t have to worry about this. You just need to buy the food your family will need while ya’ll are on your trip. Don’t include a lot of meat items when planning your meals. You can have fresh cooked meals and be able to spend time with your family planning and thinking about your next location or adventure or just spend time talking about all the fun you’ve already had.Planning a trip or vacation can be stressful and a huge hassle. Getting room reservations, packing up all the clothes needed, getting plane tickets or making sure that our vehicles will hold everything. If we have children, you need to make sure they have plenty to keep them busy.
