Protecting a patent costs a lot of money. The average cost is between three million to ten million dollars. The average litigation time is two years. It took fifteen years for Kodak and Polaroid to reach a settlement in regards to Polaroid’s instant camera. There is twenty five percent win rate for patent owners and approximately seventy-six percent of accused infringers. Over the years, the amount of cases filed is increasing. It’s kind of surprising seeing how much it costs. It’s sad to find that each year, more than twenty-five thousand inventors are scammed by invention development companies who take advantage of them.
