Criticism On “McGurn: Duty, Honor, Football”
Book Reviews February 20th. 2012, 10:48amThe students are the ones shortchanged by the entire concept of the NCAA. A multimillion dollar enterprise that treats its employees (student athletes) as serfs. For every football and basketball player that makes a mint in the pros are there are hundreds that go nowhere, do not get an education and often suffer body destroying injuries. The majority of these student athletes are not ready to learn at the college level and should not be there.
Of course the same holds true for many students in general. The USA education system is damaged and pathetic. Far too many degree holders are just frauds.
Any and every university that has any sense of honor would quit the NCAA and return to their purpose of teaching and education. Won’t happen though, too much money and corrupt participants involved. Shame on every donor that gives money for professional college athletics. The dumbing down of America.
